Students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur are invited to apply for a 12-week free online course on blockchain technology, which is commonly utilized in cryptocurrencies and secure data sharing.
The course will go through the fundamental design concepts of blockchain technology and how it may be used in various industries. The course also includes instructions on how to set up blockchain applications using Ethereum, one of the most widely used permission less blockchain systems, and Hyperledger, a permissioned blockchain platform.
Sandip Chakraborty, an associate professor at IIT Kharagpur’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and professor Shamik Sural, a full-time professor at the institute’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, will lead the course.
Participants must have a fundamental understanding of computer networks, operating systems, cryptography, and network security to be qualified for this course.
From January 24 to April 15, 2022, the course will be held. In order to take this online course, interested candidates must register by January 31, 2022.

The course was created with the understanding that blockchain technology has piqued the interest of governments, businesses, and academia due to its capacity to provide a transparent, secure, and tamper-proof method for interconnecting many parties. The course is also worth three credits.
This course has no fees associated with it. Those who want e-certificates with the IIT Kharagpur and the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) logos would have to pay Rs 1,000 and take an exam on April 23, 2022.
